Many of the models we cover on the site are usually the ones you’d use on a paved road, and there’s a good reason for that. In most cases, people need a set of tires that can do well on public roads, including people who drive vehicles that are off-road ready. No, I’m not talking about crossovers; I’m talking about SUVs and trucks.
Even in these situations, people don’t get these kinds of vehicles for their off-road capabilities. They get them for the comfort, roomy interior, or the ability to carry large cargo. With that said, some use them in non-paved conditions, meaning they need different kinds of tires.
I’m referring to the type that can go on and off-road, called all-terrain tires. These are the types that combine performance in both conditions. As a result, you won’t get the best in either of them, but that doesn’t make them a poor choice. They do well on paved roads and are decently good in off-roading conditions.
Most manufacturers have at least one model in their lineup, and the manufacturer I’ll be talking about today is Yokohama. The model in question is the Geolandar A/T G015, an all-weather, all-terrain option for a wide range of vehicles. We know that Yokohama makes excellent tires, so does the same apply to this model?

The Features of the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015
When you consider the multiple conditions in which the Geolandar A/T G015 needs to perform, you can probably guess that there will be a lot of features to enable that.
The most important one is the rubber compound. Yokohama went with its Enduro-Compound, designed to remain flexible in colder temperatures. This should result in a tire that can deliver performance in winter.
Speaking of winter, the tread pattern features triple 3D sipes and Edgetec grooves, both of which work to provide the tire with traction on snow. The combination is also why this tire comes with the 3PMSF rating, which is why it’s technically an all-weather tire.
As an off-road capable model, the tread pattern is designed to help deliver performance in non-paved conditions. The tire also features the Endurocore construction, aiming to help it withstand the torture in off-road scenarios.
Despite the category, Yokohama tweaked the tread pattern and used a multi-pitch design to improve refinement. Specifically, the company aimed to reduce road noise, which is a common problem with off-road capable tires.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 in Dry Conditions
As an all-terrain tire, the Geolandar A/T G015 does a pretty solid job in dry conditions, at least compared to other tires from this category.
In daily driving scenarios, the tire’s traction levels are pretty good. You can accelerate with no issues thanks to the tire’s ability to eliminate slip. Yes, it’s not a racing slick, so you can overload it and do a burnout, if you want to. The cornering grip is also excellent, resulting in an experience without a lot of understeer. It also offers a safe experience, thanks to the short braking distances.
While you may be tempted to push it, I’d say it’s not a good idea. Sure, the tire’s performance is pretty good, but only if you consider we’re talking about an all-terrain tire. It’s not a performance-oriented model, so don’t treat it as such.
The handling is also very good, again, considering the type of tire. It’s responsive enough for most people, but it’s direct and easy to handle, which is what most people want. The feedback is almost non-existent, but as long as you’re not pushing it past its limits, you won’t be bothered by this.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 on Wet or Slippery Roads
I feel like Yokohama did an excellent job with the Geolandar A/T G015, delivering a superb wet performer.
The combination of the rubber compound and the tread pattern resulted in a tire that doesn’t struggle in damp conditions. There’s enough traction to minimize wheelspin when accelerating, and the grip will keep your SUV or truck in check without promoting too much understeer. There is a bit, but only when you start to approach the limits. Speaking of limits, even in those situations, the tire remains easy to handle and very predictable. The tire also offers some of the shortest braking distances in the all-terrain category.
Driving in pouring rain is another situation where you won’t have any issues. The tread pattern’s ability to evacuate water is excellent, providing you with excellent stability regardless of the speed.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 in Snow
Thanks to the design, the Geolandar A/T G015 comes with a 3PMSF rating, meaning the snow performance is pretty good.
We are talking about an all-weather tire, so there are some limitations. With that said, I have to say that the performance is more than enough for most situations. The tire can handle snow well, constantly providing safe traction levels. It’s a similar story with the braking distances – not the shortest I’ve seen, but pretty good. Surprisingly, the tire doesn’t struggle in deep snow as much as I thought it would.
Since this isn’t a dedicated winter tire, there are some limitations. In this case, it’s ice. Sure, most all-season or all-weather tires don’t do well in these conditions, but this one seems to struggle with traction a bit more than some of its rivals.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 Off-Roading
The Geolandar A/T G015 is an all-terrain tire, so the off-road performance is pretty good, as long as you’re not asking too much of it.
Driving on hard-packed surfaces is where this tire shines. It offers plenty of traction, and when you combine that with the handling, you can understand why it’s perfect for these conditions.
The lack of an aggressive pattern means that the tire won’t deal with mud, as well as some of its rivals. It can handle a drive on shallower patches, but it will start to struggle with the deeper ones. I feel like the Wildpeak A/T3W does a slightly better job in these conditions.
Things remain similar with rock-crawling – a situation where this tire will be fine in lighter conditions. You may get away with going over some smaller rocks and obstacles, but if you want even better performance, you should consider a mud-terrain tire.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 for Sporty Driving
All-terrain tires aren’t ideal for sporty driving, so the same applies to the Geolandar A/T G015. The tire’s performance is good for daily driving, but the limits aren’t very high, so you won’t get much out of it. Also, the handling isn’t the most dynamic, meaning that it fails in this regard as well. Keep in mind this is true for all tires in this category.
Does the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 Ride Comfortably?
Refinement isn’t the strongest side of most all-terrain tires, but I think this one does a pretty solid job.
The noise levels of the Geolandar A/T G015 are decent, thanks to Yokohama’s multi-pitch tread design. It’s not as quiet as a touring tire, and the tread roar is there, but it’s not too loud and won’t be too intrusive.
In terms of comfort, you get a tire that will offer a solidly comfortable experience. The construction makes it a bit stiff, meaning that it eliminates any wobbliness, like with some other all-terrain tires. It absorbs the bumps well and does a pretty decent job of keeping the vibrations as minimal as possible.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 Warranty
There’s not a lot of competition in this segment in terms of warranty. Like many of its rivals, the Geolandar A/T G015 comes with a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty, which is similar to what you see in touring tires. With that said, the LT-metric models come with 50,000 miles.
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 Pricing: Is It Worth the Price?
Looking at the prices, I’d put the Geolandar A/T G015 somewhere between its premium and mid-range rivals. A standard 17-inch size is around or a bit below the $200 mark, making it a more affordable option than the TerrainContact A/T or the Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar.
Should I Buy the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015?
Looking at the performance, the Geolandar A/T G015 is a tire that may have some drawbacks, but it’s not a terribly flawed tire.
The on-road performance is pretty solid, offering more than enough in dry and wet conditions. It also deals with winter conditions pretty well, as long as you’re not driving on ice. Refinement is another positive side of this tire, something that some all-terrain models struggle with.
In off-roading conditions, it’s a tire that will perform excellently on hard-packed surfaces. It deals with mud or rocks, but not as well as some of its rivals.
This is an excellent tire for people who want a tire that can handle a bit of off-roading and remain a good performer on the road. If you need more than that in either condition, you’ll need to look at other types of tires.
