PermaShine Tire Coating Review
Owning a car means that you need to care for multiple parts of it to ensure that it lasts a long time and keeps you safe. One of the several key areas in terms of safety is tires, which doesn’t seem to get as much attention as it should.
Well-maintained tires will usually last longer and maybe offer better performance. As a result, you can get a year or two out of them before they become too old to be safe. You can do that in multiple ways, but today we’ll discuss a specific product that makes some bold claims.
The PermaShine tire coating and dressing from ExoForma is a product that makes a few promises. Most of them revolve around shine and protection, which most car owners want. Who doesn’t want to have shiny tires with a protective coat?
Before I give you my opinion on this product, let’s look at what ExoForma claims it can do.
PermaShine Features
The first and most important feature of the PermaShine is the one in the name – shine. This product is designed to offer long-lasting shine to your tires, making them look brand new. ExoForma claims that this product will keep the tires glossy anywhere from 6 to 12 months, depending on the conditions you live in.
PermaShine isn’t all about looks, as the product is designed to offer protection. ExoForma combined the shiny features with an acrylic coating that should prevent dirt from sticking to the tire. In addition, it should prolong the unavoidable cracking and flaking that tires get after a few years of exposure to the elements.
If you’ve ever used a similar product, you’ll know that the sling is a serious concern. This is where the product gets thrown around the fenders or wheel wells, and the most common reason is that the product isn’t dry enough. ExoForma seems to remedy that problem with PermaShine. The product should be dry to the touch in about 15 minutes, meaning you shouldn’t have any issues with the sling.
How to Apply PermaShine?
The application process for the PermaShine is pretty straightforward, and you won’t need a lot. Before you begin the application process, you should clean the tire. This is the most crucial aspect because the product won’t do its job correctly if you get this wrong.
ExoForma recommends using its Super Foam Soap for the cleaning process. You can use this universal product for the entire car, but in this case, you’d use it for the tires. You could go for this, but you can also use any other product and get similar results. The most important thing here is to clean the tires as thoroughly as possible. This will ensure that the PermaShine sticks to the tire better and deliver results for longer.
Once the tire is clean and dry, it’s time to apply the PermaShine. The process is simple, pour some of the PermaShine on a microfiber applicator and rub it in the sidewall. Make sure to change the direction of the movements so that the product can get into all crevasses.

With the application completed, let the product dry for 15-30 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature, and you’ll be good to go. You can apply multiple coats and get even better shine, and if you decide to go for this approach, you should wait at least 30 minutes between applications.
To ensure that the product does its job and dries as it should, make sure to avoid contact with water in the next 24 hours. I know it can be problematic, but this is to ensure the best results.
ExoForma also recommends wiping off any excess that isn’t on the sidewall, specifically, from the wheels. If you get some on them, wipe them off immediately.
The most important thing to note is that you should use gloves when applying the PermaShine. Trust me, that thing is a nightmare to get off your hands.
PermaShine Review
With the features and applications out of the way, let’s look at the product and see how it performs. Right off the bat, I can safely say that the tires will be shiner than before, even if they’re relatively new and unused. The PermaShine almost looks like they’re always wet, so it may be difficult to determine when the coating is dry enough.
ExoForma says to wait 15-30 minutes, but I would stick more toward the 30-minute mark. The PermaShine should dry in 15 minutes, but to ensure you don’t get sling, just wait a bit more. Speaking of sling, once the product is dry, that will be a problem of the past.
You can apply more coats and get an even better shine. To be honest, there is a difference between 1 and 2 coats, but the difference reduces as you apply more coats. I believe that you shouldn’t go for more than 2 or maybe 3 coats if you want to get the highest shine. Any more than that, and you’ll be wasting product.
As good as everything seems, there are some slight drawbacks. The biggest one will be for tires with aggressive tread patterns, like all-terrain or mud-terrain tires. Due to the pattern, you may struggle a bit more to get the product in the grooves and cover everything. In this case, you may need to use a brush.
Once you go over the 24-hour period where the tire shouldn’t come in contact with water, you can wash your car worry-free. The PermaShine will set by then, and the product won’t come off in the first wash.

I’ve seen plenty of comments online about the product’s longevity, and I have mixed feelings about them. The PermaShine doesn’t come off that easily, but the 6 to 12 months of shine is a bit of a stretch, and there are several reasons for that.
There are people like me that want to keep their car clean, so I wash it once a week in most cases. I doubt the PermaShine will last even 6 months with this kind of treatment. Next up are the weather conditions. Sunny days, lots of dirt, wet roads, and tons of other situations may reduce the “lifespan” of the product.
Also, before applying PermaShine, the tires need to be clean. When I say clean, I mean spotless. Going over them with a hose is one of the main reasons some users claim their tires don’t shine. You don’t have to use ExoForma’s soap, but make sure that whatever you use, the tires are clean.
To be fair, even if it lasts a couple of months, the application process is simple enough, so it won’t be a massive problem. Also, depending on how thick of a coat you apply, you can use it for a while before getting a new bottle.
As for the protection the PermaShine offers, the one where it’s supposed to prevent cracking, that remains to be seen.
Conclusion
There are tons of tire shine and coating products on the market, but I believe that PermaShine is near the top. It may not be the most affordable option you can find, but it will be the one that gets you the best results for the money.
Whatever you do, just follow the application steps to the letter. That way, you’ll get the most out of the PermaShine and be satisfied with the finished product.
