Living in a world where some of us do a lot of miles means we need tires that can handle that. The option that covers these needs is touring tires. They are designed for longevity and comfort while providing safe performance.
In the automotive industry, we have many types of vehicles and for today, we’ll be looking at the larger ones. SUVs or light trucks are a popular choice for their versatility. Being larger than your average sedan means the tire models you’d need to get aren’t the same.
I often recommend going for the premium models, as they are the best performers. With that said, what if you want to save a few bucks and still get a solid performance? This is where mid-range brands like Cooper come into play.
From this company’s lineup, we have the Endeavor Plus, an all-season touring tire for larger vehicles. Can it perform well enough for me to recommend it?

The Features of the Cooper Endeavor Plus
Most touring tires offer the same set of features that revolve around refinement, longevity, and comfort and the Endeavor Plus is no different.
The main thing about the Endeavor Plus is that it’s an all-season model. To achieve this, Cooper used its all-season rubber compound molded into a symmetric pattern. As a result, we should see a tire that’s pliable in winter. Also, the symmetric pattern means that the rotation options are more flexible, so longevity won’t be compromised.
Another aspect of the Endeavor Plus that should offer longevity is the material. Cooper added a layer of reinforced material, aiming to increase the contact patch. This should provide even wear, prolonging the tire’s lifespan.
As part of the tread pattern, Cooper tweaked the Endeavor Plus for better performance in harsh rain scenarios. The tire combines grooves and channels designed to evacuate water effectively, which should provide excellent aquaplaning resistance.
One of the main advantages of touring tires is the lower noise levels when compared with performance or off-road tires. The Endeavor Plus features a tread design, which eliminates road noise, meaning that we should see a relatively quiet tire.
Cooper Endeavor Plus in Dry Conditions
As a mid-range touring tire, the Endeavor Plus offers impressively good performance in dry conditions.
Around town, the performance is excellent, and the tire will offer far more than what most people would need. The traction levels are excellent and even more powerful vehicles won’t slip when accelerating. Things are equally impressive in the corners, as the tire doesn’t let go even if you drive faster. At highway speeds, the stability is superb, and the tire will remain planted up to a certain point. With this, you’re also getting very short braking distances, putting this tire close to the premium competitors.
Keeping in mind that we’re not talking about a performance tire, the Endeavor Plus has some limitations. Despite the impressive performance, it’s not a tire that you can take on a track. You may have a bit of fun on a twisty road, but if you’re an enthusiast, you won’t be thrilled.
The handling is an aspect of the Endeavor Plus that surprised me. Considering its application, I have to say that the responsiveness is pretty decent. It’s not the sharpest tire I’ve seen in this category, but considering it’s a mid-range touring tire, I have to say it does a fairly good job.
Cooper Endeavor Plus on Wet or Slippery Roads
In wet conditions, the Endeavor Plus continues to deliver excellent results, but it doesn’t come without some slight drawbacks.
For normal driving, the tire offers plenty of traction to eliminate slip, which is what most people are after. It won’t hold on in all conditions, so getting too aggressive will result in a burnout. Going into a corner at normal speeds is something the Endeavor Plus won’t have any issues with. You can push it a bit, but it’s not the grippiest tire in this category, so you won’t get as much as with the premium models.
In my opinion, the biggest weakness of the Endeavor Plus is the braking distance on damp roads. Don’t get me wrong, they are short and very safe. With that said, some mid-range models can offer shorter distances.
As for the aquaplaning resistance, Cooper’s design paid off. The Endeavor Plus has no issues evacuating water and even at highway speeds, the tire will remain stable and planted.
Cooper Endeavor Plus in Snow
Whenever we talk about all-season tires and winter performance, it’s important to note their limitation. They aren’t as good as winter tires, so the same applies to the Endeavor Plus.
The tire deals with snow relatively well, as long as you’re driving in lighter conditions. On shallow and unpacked snow, the traction levels are solid and you will get some usable performance out of them. There is a slight difference when going over packed snow, but the tire remains usable. Similar to the wet performance, the braking distances aren’t spectacular. They are slightly longer than some of the direct competitors in this category.
Considering that we’re talking about an all-season tire, the performance in deep snow or ice isn’t as good. To be fair, if you plan on driving in these conditions, you’re better off with a dedicated winter tire.
Cooper Endeavor Plus Off-Roading
I reserve the off-roading performance for all-terrain and mud-terrain tires, so the Endeavor Plus should stay on paved surfaces.
In the worst-case scenario, you may get some decent performance from the Endeavor Plus on a dirt road. The tire won’t feel at home in these conditions, but you can get away with it if you don’t expect a lot from it. For the harsher conditions, I’d advise you to go for some of the off-road capable models.
Cooper Endeavor Plus for Sporty Driving
No touring tire will be categorized as a sporty one, so I can say the same thing about the Endeavor Plus.
The tire does very well in terms of performance, leaving you with some room to push it. With that said, the levels aren’t as high as the UHP tires, so keep that in mind.
As for the handling, the Endeavor Plus does very well and offers a whiff of sportiness in its nature. The tire is quite responsive and you can make micro-corrections mid-corner without too many issues. As good as it sounds, the tire suffers from the same drawback as most of its rivals. You won’t get a lot of feedback, which is to be expected, limiting your ability to push it.
Does the Cooper Endeavor Plus Ride Comfortably?
A touring tire is only as good as its refinement levels, and luckily, the Endeavor Plus delivers on that front.
The comfort levels are excellent and the Endeavor Plus will offer a smooth ride. It deals with bumps almost as good as its premium rivals. The tire will soften up smaller imperfections and cracks with ease and soften the larger potholes. There are some situations where you’ll notice some vibrations in the cabin, but that’s in the most extreme situations.
As for the noise, the Endeavor Plus is a generally quiet tire. There’s not a lot of noise around town and on the highway, there is a faint hum, which is unnoticeable in most cases. The most you’ll hear from this tire is over a rough surface, but even then, it won’t be the loudest tire in its category.
Cooper Endeavor Plus Warranty
The warranty is an aspect of the Endeavor Plus that deserves to be praised. Cooper offers the tire with a 65,000-mile treadwear warranty, which puts it between the CrossClimate 2 SUV and the CrossContact LX25.
Cooper Endeavor Plus Pricing: Is It Worth the Price?
In the mid-range segment, the Endeavor Plus is priced competitively, which is what makes it that much more attractive. A 16-inch model is cheaper than the Dynapro HP2 and the Crugen HP71 and we’re not talking about a few dollars.
Should I Buy the Cooper Endeavor Plus?
If you’re after a more affordable all-season touring tire for your SUV or light truck, the Endeavor Plus is one of the best mid-range options to get.
The performance of the Endeavor Plus is excellent across the board. As an all-season tire, you’ll get excellent performance in multiple conditions, so it won’t leave you asking for more. There are some drawbacks, though. The braking distances on damp or snow-covered roads are slightly longer, so that’s one thing to keep in mind when you’re paying less than the premium.
You’ll get excellent refinement levels, both in terms of comfort and noise, so the Endeavor Plus doesn’t disappoint here as well. It handles surprisingly well for a touring tire, and if you can go over the lack of feedback, you’ll be happy with that. The package comes with a premium-like treadwear warranty, so there aren’t too many negative sides to this tire.
Looking at the Endeavor Plus as a package, it’s hard for me to find faults. Yes, there are some slight drawbacks, but you should expect those when you’re trying to pay less. At the end of the day, this is a tire that I can recommend to anyone looking for an excellent mid-range model for an SUV or light truck.
