Models like the Pilot Sport All Season 4 are those that people aim for and today I’ll explain if it’s a good option for you.

The Features of the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4
Similar to most all-season UHP tires, the Pilot Sport All Season 4 is backed by all the right features that should help it excel in its class.
The Extreme Silica+ rubber compound is derived from Michelin’s racing division and works with the Helio+ technology to help the tire offer improved traction on damp roads or in colder temperatures.
This tire features an asymmetric pattern, designed to help in several areas. The most notable one is the grip and thanks to the larger shoulder blocks, there’s more rubber on the road. It’s the part of the tire that should help it carry more speed into the corners.
Since we’re talking about an all-season model, the tread pattern is designed to offer improvements in several key areas. The tread grooves feature biting edges, part of the design that helps the tire in snowy conditions, especially over unpacked snow.
Another part of the design that should help in these conditions is the interlocking sipes. They act as claws and help the tire deliver improved traction on packed snow, as well as damp roads.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 in Dry Conditions
UHP tires are excellent in dry conditions, regardless if you need them for daily driving or pushing them on a twisty road and the Pilot Sport All Season 4 is no different.
For driving around town or on the highway, it’s a tire that won’t break a sweat. You won’t have any slip on acceleration or understeer in the corners, which isn’t a surprise. Pushing it hard on a twisty road or a track shows that it’s a true performance tire. The grip and traction levels are phenomenal and among the best in its class. It’s stable, it corners excellently, and offers short braking distances. They are a bit longer than the ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus, but only marginally.
Тhe impressive performance continues when it comes to handling. It’s a responsive tire and one that doesn’t take a lot of effort even when pushed hard. The light steering is maybe a bit too light for my liking, especially on-center, but I cannot fault it.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on Wet or Slippery Roads
The Pilot Sport All Season 4 may not offer the most impressive metrics in wet conditions, but it’s still among the best in its category.
There’s plenty of traction on damp roads, meaning that the slip will be kept at a minimum, even in a bit aggressive acceleration scenario. The grip levels are also high, meaning that as long as you’re not pushing it hard, the understeer will be kept at a minimum. Despite not leading the pack, it’s a very capable tire, which is evident from the handling, which remains responsive and light, like in dry conditions.
As far as safety is concerned, the tire doesn’t disappoint. It offers very short braking distances, outperforming many of its premium rivals. The tire’s stability in pouring rain is also very good, meaning it can resist aquaplaning very well.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 in Snow
All-season tires aren’t impressive on snow, nor is the Pilot Sport All Season 4. With that said, considering its category, it’s a very good performer.
The tire’s performance on snow is very good, offering grip and traction that are more than usable like with some of its rivals. It’s planted and you can have some fun on snow if you want to without feeling like you’ll lose control. It’s massively better than the likes of the Potenza RE980AS+, but it is ahead. Even the braking distances are pretty good, putting it ahead of many of its rivals.
Ice performance isn’t something that all-season tires do well, but this one seems to struggle a bit more than its rivals. The barely usable traction may be fine in a pinch, but it’s far from good.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Off-Roading
Touring tires are poor off-roaders, but UHP ones are even worse. The rubber compound is designed for performance on paved roads, meaning that abrasive surfaces can damage the tread. This applies to dirt roads as well. So, the lack of performance and durability is why you should keep the Pilot Sport All Season 4 on the road.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 for Sporty Driving
It’s a UHP tire, so the Pilot Sport All Season 4 is an excellent sporty tire. The performance is excellent, offering enough for anything from having fun on a twisty road to driving it on a track. It’s not on the same level as a summer performance tire, but it’s pretty good. The package includes dynamic handling, making this a very sporty all-season tire.
Does the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Ride Comfortably?
UHP tires aren’t the first choice when it comes to refinement, but they’ve come a long way in recent years. With that said, the Pilot Sport All Season 4 isn’t a tire that will impress anyone.
The comfort levels are solid enough, but the tire is a bit on the firm side. It deals with some of the bumps solidly well and dampens potholes without transferring a lot of vibrations. With that said, driving over rougher roads isn’t the most pleasant experience.
It’s more or less a similar story with the noise levels. The tire isn’t obnoxiously loud, but there is a noticeable tone. I would put it somewhere in the middle of its class, meaning that there are quieter options.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Warranty
Most of the tires in the all-season UHP segment are close when it comes to warranty. The Pilot Sport All Season 4 comes with a 45,000-mile tread wear warranty, which is the same as the g-Force COMP-2 A/S Plus. With that said the rivals from Pirelli and Continental offer a bit more.
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Pricing: Is It Worth the Price?
Michelin’s Pilot Sport lineup isn’t the most affordable one, and the same can be said about this tire. Even with a smaller 17-inch size, there is a noticeable difference when compared to other premium models from this category.
Should I Buy the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4?
If you look at each section separately, you’ll notice that the Pilot Sport All Season 4 has some drawbacks. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad tire that you should avoid.
The performance is excellent and even though it’s behind some metrics, the performance is there and it’s dependable. It’s especially capable on snow, considering that we’re talking about an all-season model.
When it comes to refinement, it’s not a terrible option, but the noise and comfort levels aren’t the best. The price is another aspect worth mentioning, meaning that you’re not exactly looking at the best bang for the buck.
Make no mistake, the Pilot Sport All Season 4 is an excellent tire. It offers almost everything but at a slightly higher price. If you can find it at a discount, then it’s a great bargain. If not, don’t cross it off your list, but check out some of its rivals.
