As a mid-range tire manufacturer, Hankook has developed plenty of tires that offer plenty of performance at a reasonable price.

The previous generation of Kinergy, the PT H727, was an excellent model, and the newer PT H737 brings plenty of improvements.

Hankook Kinergy PT H737 Tire Review

The Kinergy PT H737 comes from Hankook’s premium lineup of touring tires advertised as an excellent balance between performance, comfort, and longevity.

Hankook wanted to pay attention to every aspect while minimizing sacrifices and designed the Kinergy PT H737 with a silica and carbon black mix that should offer lower rolling resistance.

In terms of performance, Hankook took a few cues from its performance lineup. The asymmetric design, circumferential grooves, and sipes work in conjunction to offer excellent wet performance and aquaplaning resistance. For dry conditions, the shoulder blocks are stiffer, offering improved stability in the corners.

One thing I like is the alignment markers on the Kinergy PT H737. Essentially, they will let you know if your car needs alignment long before it’s too late. While you may still have one side that’s more worn down than the other, you can still save them.

How does it behave on dry tarmac?

Surprisingly well, I must say. Touring tires are not known for being specifically performance-oriented, but the Kinergy PT H737 is an exception.

On dry pavement, the tire grips more than most touring tires to a point where it can be compared with some performance models. Hankook made the blocks stiffer than most competitors that significantly increases stability, especially in the corners.

The Kinergy PT H737 is a tire that you can push quite a lot before it breaks traction, and even then, you won’t feel out of control. At a certain point, you will feel that the tire doesn’t like it, but it will take all steering inputs with no problems.

The difference increases when it comes to responsiveness, and the Kinergy PT H737 is not as responsive as high-performance tires. I’m not saying that they are bad in that regard, but they won’t satisfy enthusiast drivers. The steering feel is there, and I wouldn’t call it the most pronounced. You can feel what the tires are doing a bit muted, entirely normal for a touring tire.

How does it behave over wet and slippery roads?

All-season tires are designed to work in multiple weather conditions, meaning that wet roads shouldn’t be a problem for the Kinergy PT H737. The good news is that the tire performs just as well on a wet road as it did on dry.

Hankook nailed the rubber compound, which provides excellent traction even in wet conditions. Keep in mind that as soon as it starts raining, the road temperature drops, which is where some touring tires struggle. The Kinergy PT H737 has plenty of grip and behaves more or less as it does on dry roads.

The levels of traction are not as high but are still more than enough even when you get carried away.

Even when it starts pouring, the Kinergy PT H737 will have no problem with traction. The grooves and sipes help keep the water away from the blocks so that they can stick to the road, providing excellent aquaplaning resistance.

How is it over snow?

Despite the all-season name, these kinds of tires are not exactly fit for all seasons. Most of them have slightly limited winter performance, which is why I often recommend getting a proper winter tire. The same goes for the Kinergy PT H737.

The tire has decent performance on snow, as long as it’s light. Thanks to the tread design, it can bite down and find enough traction to start rolling. It has a decent grip in the corners as long as you don’t get too carried away. The tire performs similarly in slushy conditions.

As soon as the snow gets deeper, the Kinergy PT H737 will start to struggle as it is not designed for those conditions.
I was surprised by how well the Kinergy PT H737 did on the ice. In general, touring tires are not known for being particularly good on icy roads, but this one seemed to be a bit better.

Is it comfortable and refined?

Considering it performed so well on dry roads, I didn’t have high expectations, but I was wrong. The Kinergy PT H737 proved to be very comfortable, and I would put it on top of the list in its class.

Bumps and road imperfections are ironed out to a point where you won’t feel the car shake over smaller ones. When it comes to bigger holes, the Kinergy PT H737 absorbs them without disrupting the comfort too much.

The noise levels are also impressive, but only to a point. At lower speeds, the noise is barely noticeable, something that touring tires are known for. Regardless if you are driving around town or on the highway, the noise is not too high. As the speed increases, the Kinergy PT H737 gets slightly noisier, but only at very high speeds.

Is it good for off-roading?

Touring tires have a wide range of applications, and off-road is not one of them. Sharp rocks can damage them, and mud may cause problems, meaning that the Kinergy PT H737 is not designed for off-roading scenarios.

With that said, it doesn’t mean that some light conditions will be a problem. A bit of mud or a dirt road won’t be too big of an issue. As long as you keep the off-roading light, you shouldn’t have problems.

Is the Hankook Kinergy PT H737 ideal for sporty driving?

Most people will be surprised that the Kinergy PT H737 can deliver some sporty performance. As a touring tire, it is surprisingly responsive and sharp while maintaining comfort and noise levels as they should be.

Despite that, I wouldn’t recommend it as a replacement for a performance tire. While the sporty feeling is there, the tire is not exactly designed for it. You can have some fun on a country road or maybe even a track, but don’t expect it to wow you.

Should I buy the Hankook Kinergy PT H737?

Yes, you should, if you are on the market for all-season touring tires.

Despite touring tires being notorious for not the most performance-oriented driving, the Kinergy PT H737 is a tire that can do both. With excellent traction and stability in dry and wet conditions, it’s a tire that can almost be compared with performance models. Snow performance is decent and as much as you can expect from an all-season touring tire.

The comfort and noise levels also don’t disappoint. Most of the smaller bumps will be smoothed out, and the noise will be reasonably low as long as you don’t drive too fast.

To be honest, I’m trying hard to find anything about the Kinergy PT H737 I don’t like and every con I have mentioned is a result of nitpicking.

Hankook Kinergy PT H737 Warranty

The previous Kinergy model came with a 100,000-mile warranty, and I was a bit disappointed to find that the Kinergy PT H737 has 90,000.

Despite that, a 90,000-mile treadwear warranty is excellent and among the highest in the market. Some premium models come with less.

Hankook Kinergy PT H737 Pricing: Is it worth the money?

It absolutely is, and I can’t think of another model that can offer a better value. It starts from around $70, which is relatively cheap considering what you get.

You get a touring tire that is performance-oriented with almost no compromise on comfort – that’s tough to beat. With superb dry and wet grip and stability, combined with excellent refinement, the Kinergy PT H737 is one of the best tires in its class.

I can even go over the fact that snow and off-road performance are not very good, mainly because it’s a touring tire, and it’s not a huge drawback.

Conclusion

The Kinergy PT H737 is a tire you should have if you want a good combination of performance and comfort that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

I am aware that there are tires that can offer more in terms of comfort or performance, but Hankook’s model proves to be an excellent choice when you factor in the price. On top of that, tires that perform better in one area may perform worst in another.

Hankook nailed that with the Kinergy PT H737, and there are only a handful of situations where I wouldn’t recommend it.
