What are the features of the Hankook Dynapro AT2?
Whereas the old Dynapro AT-M had a wraparound tread design combined with its wider footprint, the new Dynapro AT2 has protruding wraparound shoulder lugs that offer added traction over muddy, loose, or challenging road surfaces. But then again, we’re not talking about a sporty or performance tire, but the Dynapro AT2 acquits itself nicely when cornering at speed – as long as you don’t push too hard towards the bends.
How does it behave over wet and slippery roads?
The outgoing Dynapro AT-M was not a stellar performer on wet roads. Thankfully, Hankook heard our grievances and worked to optimize the Dynapro AT2’s performance over wet or rainy highways. It starts with the silica-infused rubber compound that delivers excellent traction over slippery terrain. The symmetrical tread design channels water more efficiently and allow the tread blocks to provide steady traction.
Of course, there are limits to what the Dynapro AT2 can deliver in the wet. Those tread blocks may offer a secure grip in all-terrain driving, but high-speed maneuvers over damp tarmac are not the Dynapro AT2’s biggest strength, and you’ll feel this more in bigger and heavier trucks or SUVs.
How is it over snow?
The Hankook Dynapro AT2 remains a stellar all-terrain tire, including snow or ice. It comes with M+S (Mud plus Snow) and 3PMSF (3-Peak Mountain Snowflake) ratings to ensure superior winter performance. The outgoing Dynapro AT-M did not have an M+S rating and was limited to driving over light snow. But with the new Dynapro AT2’s biting block edges, you can conquer snowy or icy roads with moderate ease – as long as you’re not driving over more than three feet of snow.
Is it comfortable and refined?
Yes, the Hankook Dynapro AT2 delivers superior road comfort than its predecessor. Hankook pulled all the stops to make the Dynapro AT2 comfier and more refined, and it works! The broader footprint results in evenly distributed stress points, significantly reducing tread movement that delivers better comfort and less tire roar. Meanwhile, the reinforced carcass with nylon and steel-reinforced belts contribute greatly to the Dynapro AT2’s excellent street comfort.
Is it good for off-roading?
