In the world of car tires, there are multiple categories, depending on the performance the tires offer, and in those, the touring ones are the most popular. Most people need a set of tires that will last long, be well refined, and be safe to be driven, which is why they are the most common choice.
If you look online, you’ll find many options available, ranging from the cheap Chinese tires I recommend avoiding to the premium ones. You can often find some older models that got replaced by newer ones but are still up for sale.
Take Bridgestone, for example. The latest and greatest the company has to offer is the Turanza QuietTrack which comes as a replacement for the Turanza Serenity Plus. Even though the tire was released over a decade ago, you can still purchase it, raising the question: is it worth it?
What are the features of the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus?
Regardless of the tire’s age, the Turanza Serenity Plus isn’t lacking in the features department. At that time, Bridgestone put everything it had, intending to make it the best grand touring tire on the market.
The Turanza Serenity Plus is an all-season tire, so the rubber compound is designed so that the tire can be used in multiple weather conditions. To achieve this, Bridgestone utilized its Long Link Carbon Black compound enriched with silica, making the tire softer in colder temperatures.
Another area the compound should help with is longevity, as it’s designed to keep the tire running for longer. The rubber is molded into a tread pattern with continuous ribs on the center and the shoulders. Going for this design should help stabilize the tire at higher speeds and aid with handling.
As part of the pattern, the Turanza Serenity Plus also has 3 circumferential and plenty of lateral grooves designed to evacuate water and improve aquaplaning resistance.
On the noise side of things, Bridgestone utilized RENOA, which stands for Resonance Noise Attenuated technology. The main feature is the silencer grooves which cancel certain tones that a tire produces when it’s rolling, which should result in a quieter ride.

How does it behave on dry tarmac?
Tires have come a long way in the past 10 years, but the Turanza Serenity Plus still manages to show its competitors that it’s a worthy contender.
The levels of performance of the Turanza Serenity Plus is pretty good, capable of delivering more than enough for what most people would need from it. You’ll get plenty of grip and traction, giving you plenty of headroom even if you get a bit more aggressive. When compared with modern-day rivals, the performance isn’t on the same level as the premium ones, but it manages to trade blows with the mid-range ones.
With the excellent performance, you also get short braking distances. Again, they are a bit longer than the premium ones, but the Turanza Serenity Plus is a bit better compared to similarly priced models.
Driving in an aggressive manner isn’t what the Turanza Serenity Plus is designed for, so don’t expect it to set the fastest lap times on a track. While the performance is more than enough for daily driving, pushing it won’t reward you too much.

How does it behave over wet and slippery roads?
While the Turanza Serenity Plus is still a powerful contender in ideal conditions, you will notice the tire’s age when it comes to wet performance.
In these conditions, the area where the age is the most noticeable is the traction and grip levels. The Turanza Serenity Plus manages to deliver more than usable performance for normal driving, but as soon as you push it a bit, it will begin to struggle. For the most part, this should be fine, as the tire is perfectly safe if you’re aware that it’s not the absolute best in these conditions.
Safety is an aspect of the Turanza Serenity Plus that remains on the table even in the braking distances. To be fair, they are longer than the latest premium competitors but hold up decently well against the mid-range ones.
The aquaplaning resistance is one area where the Turanza Serenity Plus still manages to deliver competitive performance. Tires with similar prices cannot remain as stable at higher speeds, which is a good thing. Sure, newer premium ones are better, but they are also more expensive.

How is it over snow?
In the winter, the Turanza Serenity Plus delivers performance similar to what it did in wet conditions. It’s usable, but the newer premium models can outperform it.
All-season tires aren’t superior in winter conditions, so don’t expect this one to wow you. There are acceptable levels of traction in lighter conditions, meaning that acceleration won’t be an issue. The biggest problem is with grip in the corners, and the Turanza Serenity Plus feels like it doesn’t have enough for a normal drive. You could get away with a short drive, but you won’t get a planted feel like some other all-season tires can offer.
Considering the performance on light snow is limited, you shouldn’t expect the Turanza Serenity Plus to be usable in harsher conditions. It may be okay-ish on packed snow, but it will struggle a lot in deeper. With this in mind, I wouldn’t even think about driving it on ice.

Is it comfortable and refined?
In certain areas, you can notice the age of the Turanza Serenity Plus, but refinement isn’t one of them. Despite newer technologies, the tire is still very comfortable and quiet.
Thanks to the RENOA technology, Bridgestone managed to make the Turanza Serenity Plus an extremely quiet tire. At slower speeds, there is almost no noise, and on the highway, there is only a faint hum. While it isn’t better than its successor, the QuetTrack, it’s better than some of its premium competitors.
Things remain equally impressive in the comfort department. The Turanza Serenity Plus manages to absorb and smooth out the minor road imperfections and holes without any issues. For the larger ones, it dampens them excellently while keeping the cabin vibration-free.

Is it good for off-roading?
Tires designed for the road are poor performers when it comes to off-roading, and the same goes for the Turanza Serenity Plus. The tire won’t be able to deliver the performance needed to get the job done. In addition to that, the chances of damaging it are pretty high if driven in those conditions for a longer time. For shorter journeys, you can use it, but only on a dirt road.
Is the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus ideal for sporty driving?
The Turanza Serenity Plus may be able to do many things, but sporty driving isn’t one of them.
On the performance side of things, you may have a good amount to play with, especially in dry conditions, but it’s not a performance-oriented tire. Going hard into a corner will result in flex in the sidewall, and if you push it too much, you’ll end up with understeer.
Then there’s the handling, which is just as you’d expect from a touring tire. The Turanza Serenity Plus is perfectly fine for daily driving around town or on the highway, but with average responsiveness and not a lot of feedback, it’s not a tire that you should consider fun.

Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus Warranty
The best part of the Turanza Serenity Plus is the warranty. Keep in mind that this is an older tire, but even in that time, Bridgestone’s treadwear warranty was 80,000 miles for the models with a lower speed rating. This is impressive even by today’s standards, even when you compare it with the likes of CrossClimate 2 or PureContact LS.
Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus Pricing: Is it worth the money?
As an overall package, the Turanza Serenity Plus is an excellent choice, but what makes it even better is the price. Being an older model means that the price is lower than the newer ones, so at the moment, you can get a premium tire for a mid-range price, and in some cases, even cheaper.
The Turanza Serenity Plus is priced similarly to the CS5 Ultra Touring, making a 16-inch model around $15 cheaper than the Kinergy GT and over $40 than the premium options.

Should I buy the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus?
You may have the impression that the Turanza Serenity Plus is the perfect tire, which it’s not. While the tire does have its flaws, I have to say that it’s still a competitive model capable of covering most people’s needs.
With excellent dry performance and still competitive wet one, the Turanza Serenity Plus is an option that not only will deliver a safe driving experience but will also do it well. With excellent comfort and low noise levels, it’s still a very good grand touring tire. The package comes at an affordable price with a long treadwear warranty, so there aren’t too many faults apart from the winter performance.
While you can get a better tire, the Turanza Serenity Plus balances the price and performance excellently, which is why it’s still a very solid choice.
