If you want the best of the best, you should look at the premium options. On the other hand, if you’re interested in good bang-for-the-buck options, you should check out the mid-range brands.
The tire for today’s review falls in that category and is a model from Toyo. It’s the Celsius Sport, a tire that should offer excellent performance with wide vehicle coverage. Let’s check out what this tire has to offer and how it will perform.

The Features of the Toyo Celsius Sport
The Celsius Sport is a performance-oriented tire, backed by plenty of features that should deliver in multiple conditions.
Unlike many of its rivals, this is an all-weather tire, meaning that it’s 3PMSF-rated. This is backed by the zip-zag tread pattern which should help it deliver better performance on snow than M+S rated models.
The tread pattern I molded using Toyo’s specialized silica rubber compound, offers several advantages. It works with the high-density sipe design to help it offer improved traction on damp roads. The tire’s compound also allows it to remain soft in colder temperatures.
Another notable feature of this tire is the asymmetric tread pattern. The outer part of it is responsible for cornering grip, while the inner one is for stability. There’s also a role for the central rib and that’s to help with braking, accelerating, and handling.
Speaking of handling, the tire’s internal construction helps with that as well. The stuffer sidewall improved the dynamics, meaning that the tire should be responsive, as you’d expect from a performance model.
Toyo Celsius Sport in Dry Conditions
Dry performance is something that the Celsius Sport does very well, enough to satisfy the needs of most enthusiasts.
Starting with the lighter stuff, you have daily driving scenarios, something that this tire can handle with ease. There’s no slip on acceleration and it remains planted and stable in the corners. The braking distances are pretty short, doing much better than many of its rivals.
Since it’s a performance model, it can handle aggressive driving quite well. You probably won’t be comparing it to something like the ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus, but it does quite well within its class.
The handling is the best part of this tire. It’s agile and dynamic, which is thanks to the sidewall allowing the tire to have a responsive nature. It also provides a good amount of feedback, which is what you’ll need if you plan on pushing it to the limits.
Toyo Celsius Sport on Wet or Slippery Roads
Wet conditions are tricky, and some tires may struggle. The Celsius Sport does a very good job in these conditions, but I feel like it could do better.
The tire’s performance levels on damp roads are very good. It will minimize slip and won’t promote understeer as long as you’re not driving it hard. My complaint is that the levels aren’t as high as some of its rivals, so you don’t have a lot to play with. It’s far from a poor performer, but it’s a bit behind the Quatrac Pro.
In terms of the braking distances, it’s more or less a similar story. You’re looking at short braking distances, meaning that it’s safe. With that said, it’s not the “safest” in its category.
Standing water can be problematic for some tires, which isn’t the case with this one. The tread pattern helps it remain planted when driving in puddles, even at higher speeds.
Toyo Celsius Sport in Snow
Tires with the 3PMSF rating usually do well in winter conditions. The Celsius Sport does well, but I wouldn’t consider it the best.
The traction on snow-covered surfaces is good and the tire is more than “just usable”. It deals with packed and unpacked snow well, but the traction levels aren’t as high as some of its rivals. The braking distances are also not the shortest in the category but are still safe enough. It’s not a tire that likes to be on the limit in these conditions, so I’d way not to push it hard.
Ice performance is available, but only in a pinch. The traction barely passes as safe, and you have slightly longer braking distances. Keep in mind that this is a comparison with rivals from the same category.
Toyo Celsius Sport Off-Roading
Off-road performance is something you can get from an all-terrain or a mud-terrain tire. Considering that the Celsius Sport is neither, you can guess that you should avoid off-roading. The performance you may get in some conditions could be barely acceptable, but in most cases, you won’t have such luck.
Toyo Celsius Sport for Sporty Driving
There is a sport in the name of the Celsius Sport, so it must be a sporty tire, right? Yes, it does a pretty good job, especially in dry conditions. Combining the dynamic handling with the high levels of grip and traction makes this a pretty fun tire for enthusiasts. It may not be the best on the track, but that’s not what it’s designed for.
Does the Toyo Celsius Sport Ride Comfortably?
Since we’re talking about a performance-oriented model, I have to say that the Celsius Sport does a pretty good job in terms of refinement.
The comfort levels are pretty good and even though the stiffness of the sidewall takes away a bit, it’s far from an uncomfortable tire. You’ll notice some vibrations on certain surfaces, but they’re not too bad.
When it comes to the noise levels, it’s not a particularly loud tire. The hum is there, which is due to the slightly aggressive pattern, which is the case with most all-weather tires. It’s not the quietest tire in the category, but it’s decent enough.
Toyo Celsius Sport Warranty
As a mid-range performance model, the warranty of the Celsius Sport is pretty decent. It comes with a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty for the W and V-rated models and 40,000 for the tires with a Y-speed rating. This is on par or slightly behind the premium rivals, which is pretty good.
Toyo Celsius Sport Pricing: Is It Worth the Price?
The Celsius Sport is a mid-range tire, but the price isn’t the most competitive one. It’s priced a bit below the Pilot Sport All Season 4 but above the Potenza RE980AS+. To be honest, it’s not the best balance as many other models from Toyo’s lineup.
Should I Buy the Toyo Celsius Sport?
The Celsius Sport is a tire that seems to do a lot of things right and covers the most important aspect – combining performance and refinement.
As a performance model, it offers excellent grip and traction in dry conditions, which is where the tire shines. Combining this with the dynamic handling, it’s clear why Toyo advertises it as a performance tire. Wet and winter performance is pretty good and even though it’s behind some of its rivals, it’s a pretty solid performer. The refinement is very good considering its category and even though it’s not the most affordable tire, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad choice.
The Celsius Sport is a model that I can recommend. It does a lot of things right and despite some critiques, it’s an excellent performer. As good as it sounds, you should check out some of its premium rivals, especially the ones that are priced similarly.
