The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II ticks several boxes. This all-season touring tire is as smooth and quiet on the road as you’d like it to be. It is also nice to drive in dry conditions and offers a firm grip on wet surfaces. Plus, it offers excellent fuel economy.
Best of all, this tire is good in the snow. You can count on it to handle mild to moderate wintry conditions without fuss. The Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II is one of the few tires that will let you carry much of your speed through bends on light snowy and icy roads.
Yet there are areas where it could do better. For a model with all the above qualities, I was disappointed to note that it doesn’t come in sizes for passenger cars. True, SUVs are running sedans off American roads. But I’d still have liked an option or two for my Corolla.

The Features of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II
The Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II is an all-season touring tire. It is available in sizes ranging from 16-inch to 22-inch wheel diameter. Unfortunately, this tire is only developed for SUVs, CUVs, and light trucks, forcing drivers of passenger cars to look elsewhere.
While it would never admit to this, it seems that Pirelli’s main focus when developing this tire was wet performance. That is because I’m yet to see any tire with features such a higher content of silica, a substance that improves the grip of tires on wet roads.
Four longitudinal grooves offer further proof of this tire’s inclination for slippery surfaces. These channels are designed to evacuate water quickly for a reduced risk of hydroplaning. Together with the lateral sipes, these grooves make it one of the best tires for rain.
All of the above isn’t to say that the Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II will struggle on dry roads. It is sporty enough to convince you to push it to its limits under the sun. At the same time, it offers the kind of ride quality that may put your fellow passengers to sleep.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II in Dry Conditions
The Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II offers the best of both worlds on dry surfaces.
On the one end, this model delivers an exciting personality. You get more feedback on the steering than most all-season touring tires can provide. It doesn’t require you to put in too much effort to respond to steering inputs and earns top marks in the handling department.
On the other end, the Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II offers a compliant ride. Even when you’re driving at full speed, it will let your SUV rotate and glide through corners. I’d go so far as to say that this tire can eliminate over- or under-steering if paired with a capable AWD system.
All in all, the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II is a capable performer on dry roads.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II on Wet or Slippery Roads
With a focus on wet performance and braking, Pirelli updated the tread compound and internal construction of the Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II. It also equipped this model with four longitudinal grooves and high-density lateral siping.
The result? Much improved braking distances on damp surfaces vis-à-vis the Scorpion Verde All-Season. Another improvement is in the time both tires take to evacuate water particles, with this tire’s traction on wet surfaces also seeing an upgrade.
However, despite all these improvements, this model still lags behind its competitors (Continental CrossContact LX25 and Michelin CrossClimate SUV) regarding wet performance. Both of these offer class-leading braking and lateral grip in wet weather, leaving the Verde All Season Plus II in their wake.
Still, an average driver won’t be able to notice the difference, making the Verde All Season Plus II a reliable option for most people.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II in Snow
The Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II performed quite well in our light snow testing.
While many drivers think that their SUV’s AWD can guarantee sure-footed driving in mild wintry conditions, the AWD system only helps the vehicle accelerate. To help your SUV stop or turn on snow and ice, you need a set of tires that can provide a strong grip.
That is precisely what the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II does. Combined with our test SUV’s AWD system, it delivered an authoritative lateral grip. Its strong grip made our SUV easy to drive, with the result that our acceleration didn’t take a noticeable hit.
That said, there’s one area where this model could do better. Its braking distances, though short, aren’t quite as small as that of its competitors mentioned above. But since they aren’t as long as to border on hazardous, we can’t say we’re complaining.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II Off-Roading
I would never recommend using this tire for off-roading.
This model’s tread pattern is nowhere near as aggressive as the one you see on dedicated off-road tires. Its tread compound is also unable to prevent cuts, chips, and punctures on rough surfaces. And while it does have sipes, they aren’t thick enough to offer adequate traction on rough surfaces.
So, if you have no intention of replacing this tire anytime soon, drive it on paved surfaces only.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II for Sporty Driving
Although it’s sporty enough to be fun, this tire mainly focuses on offering a plush riding experience.
Its ride doesn’t feel as taut and controlled as that of performance-oriented SUV tires, such as the Michelin CrossClimate SUV. Neither is its steering as quick and precise.
However, as a long-term touring tire user, that didn’t surprise me. After all, the main focus of tires in this category is keeping things quiet and comfortable inside the cabin. That is something the Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II does with aplomb.
Does the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II Ride Comfortably?
This tire deserves the top marks for the ride and noise comfort.
This shouldn’t be surprising given that this tire features Pirelli’s Noise Canceling System. The PNCS is a technology that lowers road noise by attaching a sound-absorbing device to the tire’s inner wall, letting you enjoy the drive in absolute silence.
It also delivers a compliant ride, whether you’re driving in the city, on the highway, or over smooth and/or coarse concrete. This means you can count on this tire to absorb major imperfections with little fuss.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus II Warranty
Pirelli backs the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II with a 65,000-mile treadwear warranty.
No matter how you slice it, this guarantee is average for a premium touring all-season tire.

All three tires rival this model for a place on your SUV. And all three come with longer treadwear warranties, giving Pirelli an area where it could improve this tire’s successor.

At the time of writing, this tire’s price starts from around $140.
While the price makes it more expensive than colleagues from Pirelli, the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II is still a budget option than rival models from Michelin and Continental.
So, opt for this model if you’re in the market for a mid-range (only in terms of price, not performance) all-season touring tire.
