Buying new tires can be a bewildering experience. You have to choose from a wide range of brands, sizes, and tire types to fit underneath your vehicle. If that isn’t difficult enough, you also have to keep an eye on your pocket, ensuring that the tire you select comes within your budget.

Arroyo Tires Review

Arroyo tires aim to make this process go smoothly. Here is a brand that claims to offer premium quality tires with excellent road manners on a budget. The last part might raise a few eyebrows, especially from people who know what the likes of Continental and Michelin charge for their tires.

Yet, as our Arroyo tires review will show, this American private label brand has managed to get the balance between price and performance right. This has allowed Arroyo tires to be the first choice of people who have already used them, while also climbing the steps to becoming a household name.

In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Arroyo tires. We’ll kick things off by reviewing some of this brand’s best-selling models. Next we’ll turn our attention to the pros and cons of Arroyo tires, before finishing this review by answering some common queries

Arroyo Tires Review

Let’s look at the Arroyo tires currently on the market

#1. Grand Sport A/S

Arroyo Tires Review

The Arroyo Grand Sport A/S is a value-priced all-season tire. Its extensive size range means this tire can fit most midsize sedans, subcompacts, compacts, and small crossovers.

This tire features anti-eccentric wear belts on the outer shoulders. They are responsible for increasing its tread’s contact area with the road to avoid premature wear. The wear belts also enhance this tire’s braking performance, shortening the stopping distances in dry and wet conditions.

Arroyo doesn’t give much information about this model’s tread compound. What it does tell is that the tread area has four wide longitudinal grooves to enhance draining performance. Thanks to these grooves, the risk of hydroplaning is reduced and this tire’s wet performance gets a boost.

Road noise is almost minimal with this tire. Credit goes to its sequence tread design and close slanted tread grooves. Both work together to minimize road dissonance and provide a quiet ride.

In terms of warranty, the Grand Sport A/S cannot compete with its budget counterparts. The 40,000-mile treadwear warranty is much lower than what the likes of Waterfall, Achilles, and Vercelli offer on their all-season tires. So a few corners have been cut to keep this model’s price low.

  • Competitively priced
  • Offers a quieter ride than most budget tires
  • Dependable wet performance
  • Resists hydroplaning pretty well

  • Small treadwear warranty

#2. Eco Pro A/S

Arroyo Tires Review

Here is another pocket-friendly all-season tire from Arroyo. The Eco Pro A/S is less inclined toward performance and focuses more on being a dependable four-weather option for passenger vehicles. Enthusiast drivers would thus be better off with the Grand Sport A/S.

That the Eco Pro A/S is made for “Sunday morning” drivers is evident by its features. Multiple outer edge tread patterns ensure that minimum road noise makes its way to the cabin. The tread patterns also play their part in limiting treadwear, enhancing this tire’s road life.

Within the tread area lie four wide circumferential grooves. Their responsibility is to effectively eliminate water from beneath the tire’s footprint. Not only do the grooves do this with aplomb. But they also provide extra grip with their superior water excavation.

Low rolling resistance and even lower fuel consumption make this tire a perfect choice for environmentally conscious drivers. And the fact that it comes with a 55,000-mile warranty means this tire is designed to last a few years before requiring replacement.

  • Competitively priced
  • Offers a quieter ride than most budget tires
  • Dependable wet performance
  • Resists hydroplaning pretty well

  • Small treadwear warranty

#3. Grand Sport 2

Arroyo Tires Review

The Grant Sport 2 is an ultra-high-performance all-season tire from Arroyo. It is designed to fit performance-oriented coupes and family sedans.

Year-round versatility is almost a given with this tire, thanks to its all-season tread compound that offers excellent traction and grip in dry and wet conditions, including light snow. At the same time, it does an excellent job of dissipating heat – every tire’s worst enemy.

Two ribs with curved grooves give this tire all the stability it needs to stabilize your vehicle at breathtaking speeds. Multiple sipes within the tread area make short work of water evacuation, while a smooth center tread provides maximum grip year-round.

As is the case with all UHP tires, the Grand Sport 2 comes with a trade-off: This tire tends to wear faster than the regular all-season tires (like those reviewed above). This makes them less than ideal for drivers who aren’t too keen on pushing their vehicle to its limits.

The starting price of the Grand Sport 2 is lower than Eco Sport A/S, even though this tire offers a higher treadwear warranty (55,000 miles). For this reason, if you own a sports coupe or a sedan and have a habit of pushing your vehicle to its limits, the Grand Sport 2 might be a better option of the two.

  • Reasonable price for a UHP all-season tire
  • Offers maximum grip in dry and wet conditions
  • Water is evacuated quickly from the tread
  • Comes with a 55,000-mile treadwear warranty

  • Wears down pretty quickly

#4. Ultra Sport A/S

Many drivers will tell you that you need to break the bank to get a performance tire. That might be true in the previous decades when the tire market wasn’t as saturated with budget brands as it currently is. However, as the Ultra Sport A/S shows, you can get performance on a budget.

Designed for passenger vehicles, the Ultra Sport A/S has a silica-enhanced tread compound which is stiff enough for summer and flexible enough for winter conditions. An optimized 3D siping detail gives the tread compound all the support it needs for optimal dry and wet traction.

Arroyo claims that this tire is useful in light snow, too. We aren’t convinced of this claim. There aren’t simply as many sipes (biting edges) around the tread area for that. Neither does the tire come with M+S rating. That is why it is recommended to keep this tire away from snow.

High-speed performance is one area where this tire shines. Hard cornering and acceleration cannot lay a glove on this tire’s wear, which looks as if it is ageless. And the grip and traction on offer is decent enough to let you push the Ultra Sport A/S to its limits.

A 45,000-mile warranty is nothing to be proud of, especially once you consider that the Grand Sport A/S is warrantied for an extra 10,000 miles. Which is surprising considering the Ultra Sport A/S costs twice as much as its UHP sibling.

  • Brilliant high-speed control
  • Resists hydroplaning like a charm
  • Little road noise even at elevated speeds

  • Pricey for a budget tire

#5. Eco Pro HT

Arroyo Tires Review

The Eco Pro HT is a highway terrain tire designed for use on SUVs and light trucks. Its competitive pricing means and excellent features provides this tire with everything drivers look for when shopping for a next set of tires for their vehicle.

An all-season tread compound and symmetric tread design means that four-weather traction is guaranteed with this tire. The tread compound remains flexible for year-round use, while the tread design helps the tire grip the road surface in dry, wet and wintry conditions.

Controllability is also above-average with this tire. Its three continuous center blocks, as well as the solo rigid tread block, make sure of that. Though the tread block also plays its part in enhancing steering responsiveness, a fact which deserves the attention of enthusiast drivers.

Road noise is on the lower side. A five-degree pitch variation cancels out the road noise for a comfortable and quiet driving experience. And four wide circumferential grooves effectively eliminate water from beneath the tire’s footprint, reducing the risk of hydroplaning.

  • Maintains shape under pressure
  • Shoulder grooves dissipate heat pretty quickly
  • Virtually noise-free

  • Average wear

#6. Tamarock M/T

Arroyo Tires Review

The Tamarock M/T tire is designed to deliver excellent performance in rain, mud and snow. Its stone-ejecting ability means this tire can help you with some rock-crawling too. Unless you’re deterred by its asking price, which is massive, even for a mud-terrain tire.

Start with the positives. Two aggressive tread patterns are the reason why this tire’s grip remains the same in dry, wet, mud, snow and rocks. It is due to them that this tire performs equally well on wet terrains as it down on muddy ones.

Wide grooves within the tread area don’t take long to evacuate any water particles. The space between them is wide enough not to let stones and other materials get stuck. This self-cleaning nature also applies when this tire is dealing with mud and slush.

And then there is this tire’s eye-watering price. Arroyo fans would like to point out that this tire’s warranty – 40,000 miles – goes a long way in justifying the price tag. And they would be right. Mud-terrain tires simply do not offer warranties that would let anyone not looking mistake them for A/S tires.

  • 40,000-mile treadwear warranty
  • Brilliant traction in wet, mud and snow
  • Wide grooves expel water, mud and stones quickly

  • Available in a limited number of sizes

#7. Tamarock A/T

Arroyo Tires Review

Who says all-terrain tires cannot be value-priced? The Tamarock A/T is proof that you can satisfy all your off-road urges without breaking the brank. This all-terrain tire might be costlier than other Arroyo offerings, but it’s still cost-effective when compared with other tires in this category.

The Tamarock A/T has what it takes to conquer off-roads. Its staggered tread blocks and wide grooves improve this tire’s handling on difficult terrains, while also boosting its dry, wet and winter grip in highway conditions. Small wonder than that this tire performs excellently in mud terrain.

Its high void ratio and staggered tread elements keep this tire’s footprint clean, eliminating mud, snow and rocks stuck between its tread elements. All of this prevents mud and snow from coming in the way of this tire’s surface contact, all but guaranteeing a reliable off-road performance.

A close inspection of this tire’s footprint reveals a flatter surface than other AT tires. Arroyo deliberately took this decision to increase the Tamarock A/T’s usability on the road.

Keep in mind, though, that this tire isn’t cheap, regardless of whether you compare it with other tires from Arroyo or premium all-terrain tires like the General Grabber ATX. However, that is expected considering the features on offer.

  • Excellent handling in off-road conditions
  • Superior wet, snow and mud traction
  • Doesn’t make a lot of noise for an all-terrain tire

  • Expensive
