With that said, the tire isn’t particularly good at being pushed aggressively. There may be situations where it will struggle for grip and traction if you overdo it.

Handling is another area where the Xtreme M/T 2 won’t win your heart. The responsiveness is average, and the feedback is not very pronounced – things that you’d typically expect from an off-road tire. Despite the sturdy internal construction, the tire will have a noticeable sidewall flex only when you drive it at the limit.

Safety is an area where the Xtreme M/T 2 performs well. It won’t deliver the shortest braking distances in this category, but they will be above average.

How does it behave over wet and slippery roads?

You will notice a slight drop in performance when driving on wet roads, but the Xtreme M/T 2 still remains pretty usable.

The way the tread is designed, combined with the compound, means that the Xtreme M/T 2 can provide decent levels of traction. It won’t be particularly sticky for those that accelerate aggressively or have a powerful truck but should be fine for most people. Going into a corner isn’t something I’d recommend doing at a higher speed. It will hold the line, as long as you don’t push it too much.

Even though the tire doesn’t have too much grip to play with, it still remains relatively safe. If you push it a bit, it will lose grip, but it will do that in a progressive manner which you’ll notice.

The aquaplaning resistance is another area that the Xtreme M/T 2 prooves to be safe. It evacuates water very good and delivers a stable driving experience in many situations.

How is it over snow?

Thanks to the rubber compound, the Xtreme M/T 2 can offer functional performance in the winter.

In lighter conditions, the tire’s tread pattern and deep voids enable it to dig in and deliver decent traction. The performance in unpacked snow and slush is pretty good, and thanks to the self cleaning grooves, it remains consistent. Packed snow is where the Xtreme M/T 2 will struggle with grip and traction.

With that, you also get decent handling characteristics, meaning that even if you lose traction, it won’t spin out uncontrollably.

Going for harsher conditions isn’t recommended, as the Xtreme M/T 2 won’t even be safe enough to be driven. For these cases, it would be better to go for a winter tire.

Is it comfortable and refined?

Most mud-terrain tires aren’t particularly well refined, and that is the case with the Xtreme M/T 2, to a point where it seems to fall below the average.

The internal construction of the Xtreme M/T 2 means that it will be durable, but it also means that the ride quality will suffer. Due to the stiffer design, you will notice the bumps in the road as well as some vibrations. It’s not the worst in this regard, but there are more comfortable tires in this category.

Noise levels are also not something that the Xtreme M/T 2 can brag with. At slower speeds, things are acceptably quiet and aren’t too terrible. The noise increases when you drive it over higher speeds, and even though it isn’t unbearable, there are a few quieter options.

Is it good for off-roading?

The Xtreme M/T 2 is Pro Comp’s flagship mud-terrain tire, and it delivers on that name.

Over dirt or gravel roads, the Xtreme M/T 2 can deliver excellent grip and traction levels. Thanks to the self-cleaning technology, the tire can eject stones and enable it to deliver its performance.

Mud is another area where the Xtreme M/T 2 is excellent, and it can produce traction where other tires may struggle. Sand is an area where it may struggle a bit, but only if the sand is deeper.

For the most extreme situations like rock-crawling, the Xtreme M/T 2 provides excellent performance. The internal construction enables you to deflate it and get better traction.

Is the Pro Comp Xtreme M/T 2 ideal for sporty driving?

When it comes to sporty driving, the Xtreme M/T 2 is among the worst choices.

The tire’s ability to stick to the road is limited, which is to be expected from a mud-terrain tire. Handling is another weak point, resulting in a tire that won’t enable you to push it hard.
